Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux 2025 promises a strong season, with twelve races in five rounds!

Zonhoven, Tuesday 20 May 2025. The 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux is set to kick off with great momentum. Today, Tuesday 20 May, marks the official test day, followed by the opening meeting on Wednesday 21 May, featuring no fewer than three races, all at the iconic Zandvoort circuit on the North Sea coast! Once again, the grid is packed with a dynamic mix of seasoned racers, ambitious young talents, and newcomers eager to make their mark. The familiar and successful one-day format returns, ensuring all the excitement is packed into a single action-filled day.

Zandvoort will both start and end the season, with additional meetings scheduled at Assen, Zolder, and Spa-Francorchamps. At Zandvoort, competitors will take part in three sprint races in one day, while the other three meetings will each host two races, totaling twelve 30-minute sprints for the 2025 season. “As always, all five meetings are held on weekdays, a format that has proven successful in recent years, and we are clearly maintaining that stability,” explains Series Manager Lars Plato.

On the grid, fans can look forward to a diverse lineup, featuring the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 991 and 992 – alongside the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 in both Clubsport and RS Clubsport variants.

Wils defends his title

All eyes will be on Belgian driver Philippe Wils, who returns to defend his Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux crown with Q1 Trackracing. But he’s not without competition, as several familiar names from last season are eager for redemption. Vice-champion Niels Troost (Team GP Elite) is back with a vengeance, as is Lennart Hiemstra (MDM Motorsport), who finished sixth in 2024 and made major strides over the winter.

WDP Racing steps up from the GT4 category to the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – and will be a team to watch. So too will be Olivier Dons, who represents Speedlover in Zandvoort. Dino van der Geest, runner-up in the GT4 class last year, also joins the 911 ranks, adding further excitement to the competition. Sam Scholten (PG Motorsport) impressed during the final rounds of 2024 and is expected to be a strong contender this year.

There’s also a host of fresh faces in the GT3 Cup field: Thijn van Berkel, David Harrison, and Nathan Luckey (all with Team GP Elite), as well as Mark van Eldink (Hans Weijs Motorsport).

Last but not least, Sander Pielkenrood enters the championship with a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 991 – under the RFF Motorsport banner. Transitioning from Clubracing, Pielkenrood’s move highlights the pull of the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid.

“We’re excited with the strength of this year’s grid and are working hard to welcome even more drivers and teams,” Lars Plato continues. “While we remain focused on the Benelux region, it’s clear that our format is attracting international interest too. The compact calendar and ample driving time are a winning combination.”

Great battle in the GT4 class

The GT4 category promises another fierce fight. Belgian talent Arthur Peters is aiming for back-to-back titles with the well-established Selleslagh Racing Team, but he faces strong opposition. Menno van de Grijspaarde (Team GP Elite), 2024’s GT4 AM champion, is back and targeting overall success, while the quick Belle Rappange (Team GP Elite) will also be in the mix.

Caspar Hogeboom returns to action with Team GP Elite, and Marco van der Poel makes his Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux debut with the same team, rounding out a solid field of GT4 contenders.

So, see you on Wednesday 21 May at Circuit Zandvoort for the first meeting of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux 2025!
