Second round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux brings teams and drivers to Assen

  • Will we see a fourth and fifth different winner in as many races in Assen?

  • The battle in the ‘GT4 RS’ class promises to be very intense

Zonhoven, 9 July 2025 – After recent action in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux and the Porsche Endurance Trophy, it’s now the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux’s turn to take the spotlight. On Wednesday 9 July, the championship heads north to the Netherlands, where the TT Circuit Assen will host the fourth and fifth races of the 2025 season.

Let’s rewind to May, when the season kicked off at Circuit Zandvoort with an unusual three-race format. The victories were split between Dino van der Geest (Team GP Elite), Lennart Hiemstra (MDM Motorsport), and Niels Troost (Team GP Elite). After that triple-header, Van der Geest leads the overall standings with 122 points, followed by Hiemstra and Troost, who are tied on 90 points. Several challengers are still well in the mix, including G.K. (WDP Racing), who gained valuable experience during the Porsche Endurance Trophy at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend.

Sam Scholten (PG Motorsport), Mark van Eldik (Hans Weijs Motorsport), and Thijn van Berkel (Team GP Elite) will be aiming to make their mark in Assen, while Speedlover and KKRämer Racing are also keen to showcase the pace of their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 machines.

A battle within the battle

Meanwhile, in the ‘GT4 RS’ class, a fierce three-way rivalry has emerged following the Zandvoort round. Arthur Peters (Selleslagh Racing Team), Belle Rappange (Team GP Elite), and Menno van de Grijspaarde (Team GP Elite) are all firmly in contention. Despite Peters taking two race wins, it’s the experienced Menno van de Grijspaarde who tops the standings with 60 points. Rappange, who claimed one win, trails by just three points, with Peters ten points adrift.

Keep an eye on the rest of the field too, as Marco van der Poel and Caspar Hogeboom, both racing for Team GP Elite, are not far behind and will be pushing hard for podium finishes in Assen.
